In an on-grid solar system, the electricity generated by the solar plant is used to power the loads in the building. In case load is less than the power generated by the solar system, electricity will be fed into the grid.In case power generated by the system is less than the requirement due to a cloudy day, any shortage will be drawn from the grid. The system owner will save on the electricity bill as electricity consumption from the grid will be reduced drastically. Also, the excess electricity generated by the solar system, which is fed into the grid, is also monetized due to Net Metering. This system doesn’t function in case of grid failure.
