As of 8th March 2019, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) would provide Central Finance Assistance (CFA)/Subsidy for Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Plants under Net Metering, approximately a capacity of 1 to 10 kW as per MNRE, GOI which will help make solar more affordable.
This subsidy is available for residential sectors only. CFA will be provided if funds are available from MNRE, Government of India.
Anyone who has sanctioned electricity load of more than 1.25 kW and wishes to generate electricity ensuring their contribution toward a better environment can avail this subsidy provided by Punjab, GOI.
In domestic sectors, the Government of India will provide a maximum of 40% on cost as subsidy, of the installation of rooftop solar power plants. If the residential sector installs a rooftop solar plant;
- Of maximum up to 3kW capacity, the CFA allotted is 40% of cost or cost discovered through competitive process; whichever is lower.
- Of capacity ranging from 3kW to 10kW would receive a CFA of 40% up to 3kW capacity. And capacity above 3kW will receive an additional 20% CFA on cost. If the capacity exceeds 10kW, no CFA is allotted, hence no subsidy on capacity above 10kW.
- Users can install a rooftop solar plant of capacity higher than 10kWp, but subsidy will be limited for users with 10kWp capacity max in residential sector.
- For GHS (Group Housing Societies) / RWA (Residential Welfare Association), maximum capacity of rooftop solar plant allowed for single house is 10kWp and total is up to 500kWp for availing subsidy of 20% on cost or cost discovered through competitive process; whichever is lower.
